Who it applies to

Doctors registering in Gujarat to practise modern scientific medicine. The council's Act describes itself as regulating the registration of persons practising modern scientific medicine in the state.

Fee

Not recorded. The council's application form prints a registration fee of 1,000 rupees, plus 100 for return by registered post, but the council's website notices a revised fee structure effective 1 April 2021 without publishing the revised amounts. Until the revised structure is published, the amount on the form cannot be relied on.

The Act it works under

The council publishes its own copy of the Act, headed Gujarat Act No. 10 of 1968 and described there as an Act to consolidate and amend the law regulating the registration of persons practising modern scientific medicine in Gujarat. The council’s own application forms cite the same Act as the Gujarat Medical Council Act, 1967. Both spellings come from the council; the page it publishes gives the Act’s chapter structure but not its section text.

What the form asks for

The enclosures are in the fact box above. Two things about them are worth stating plainly, because the form states them plainly: originals are required, not attested copies, alongside photocopies of each; and the name on the application must correspond exactly with the name held by the university.

Fees

The council’s form prints a registration fee of 1,000 rupees, with 100 rupees more for return by registered post and 30 rupees more if paid by crossed postal order, by draft in favour of the Registrar, Gujarat Medical Council, payable at Ahmedabad.

That figure is recorded here but should not be relied on. The council’s own website carries a notice that the fee structure for its registrations was revised with effect from 1 April 2021, and the revised amounts are not published. Confirm the fee with the council before paying.

Applying

The council asks applicants to register on its online portal and enter their details there, and then to attend the council’s office in person for verification of documents.

Renewal

The council’s pages did not state a renewal period or procedure when this page was written. The national position is on renewal of registration.
